Privacy has been described as the right of a person to be left alone and able to control the release of his or her personal information. Concerns about privacy are not new. Businesses have collected customer information for a long time. However, when new internet technologies with better capabilities for collection, storage, use, and communication of personal information come into play, privacy concerns often increase.  When people are making purchases online and they feel confident that their personal  information is not going to be released, they tend to use that website in the future. If they find unsecured or that their personal information might be  leaked at any point, they rather use a different website.  This has a negative impact on electronic commerce.

  1. I completely agree. Privacy is becoming more of an issue as data mining and behavioral targeting technology gets better. I fall into the category of people who would rather leave a website and stay away from it in the future if I feel like my privacy is being violated.

  2. I also agree. When people feel more confident in sharing their information online will be more likely to spend at businesses.

  3. Do you think we have privacy with our personal email addresses?

  4. I think so. Just remember to change your password often and use capital letter, numbers and symbols to make it harder for someone to hack it.
